Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (EDXRF)

In November 2025, an energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDXRF) from Shimadzu (Model: EDX-7000) was installed at the INW. The device enables fast, non-destructive chemical analysis of materials starting from atomic number 11 (sodium).

The EDX-7000 is a compact benchtop instrument with a footprint of only 46x59 cm. It offers detection limits down to the ppm range and requires minimal sample preparation – solid, liquid, and paste samples can be measured directly.

The EDXRF method uses characteristic X-ray radiation for element identification and quantification. The instrument finds versatile application in materials science, quality control, and environmental analysis, enabling both qualitative and quantitative analyses.
