In January 2026, a heating microscope from Hesse Instruments in Osterode was installed at the INW through a donation from CUTEC. The new model features improved temperature control and more modern software compared to older systems.
The heating microscope enables the investigation of various thermal properties of materials, including melting behavior, sintering behavior, wetting behavior, and contact angle measurements. The device also allows the determination of viscosity fix points and characteristic temperatures according to DIN 51730.
The precise temperature control and modern software enable detailed analyses of the thermal behavior of glasses and ceramic materials during heating.
