High Temperature Optical Microscope

High-temperature arc furnace from Yonekura. The furnace uses an infrared lamp to heat a sample (< 50 mg) at heating and cooling rates of up to 1000 K/min.
Various atmospheres of argon, nitrogen, air and a vacuum can be generated. This allows substances to be heated to above the melting point and observed in-situ through the microscope.
The maximum operating temperature is 1700 °C.
